EE Times Announces Educator of the Year 2008 Award
Dr. Moira Gunn, Program Director for Information Systems Programs in the College of Professional Studies at the University of San Francisco and host of the public radio programs "Tech Nation" and "BioTech Nation" has been announced as this year’s recipient of the EE Times Educator of the Year Award.
Dr. Gunn has implemented technology advancement programs at the University of San Francisco’s College of Professional Studies that have added 21st century topics of educational importance to the Information Systems curriculum. The revamped programs prepare students for the job market that will continue to develop over the next decade. Due in part to Dr. Gunn, the College of Professional Studies has seen a 300% increase in enrollment for the Masters of Science in Information Systems program. In Dr. Gunn's role as host of "Tech Nation" and "Biotech Nation" she speaks weekly with CEO's, scientists, industry analysts, ethicists, and others in the biotech field.
The EE Times Educator of the Year recipients were selected by the editors of EE Times based on their individual accomplishments and their impact on the electronics industry.
Additionally, Dr. Gunn's recent publication "Welcome to BioTech Nation: My Unexpected Odyssey into the Land of Small Molecules, Lean Genes, and Big Ideas”, has been selected as one of the Best Science Books of 2007 in a citation from the Library Journal.
